As I bury the truth inside
President Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma has been known to the public as a rather discreet and private person who only addresses what he feels is important and keeps the rest to himself. However one would expect that regarding such a sensitive issue he would atleast answer to the people so as to put them at ease for using their money unknowingly and misleading parliament. After all leaving the issue unanswered will NEVER make it disappear because not only will EFF persist on annoying him but people will always have a negative image of him.
Serving the people or standing by Zuma?

The cabinet

There had been previous investigations pertaining the Nkandla security saga however the report initially suggested that the President had not used the states money and things were left at that. However upon the release of the recent report suggesting that he had infact used the money, boycotts were initiated. So one wonders whether infact Jacob Zuma's
cabinet condemns the use of the states' money without authority or they just securing their jobs by standing by the president because if that wasn't the case then why is it that they merely boycotting now when the report shows that he used the money? Why weren't such things done when the initial report suggested that Jacob Zuma had not used money?
Whether Jacob Zuma violated the executive ethics code or not, the public will never know for sure because there seems to be a lot of people who are standing by him and are more than willing to protect him and his position at all costs.
Faulty presidency
The question that should be in everyone's heads shouldn't be how much security one man and his family need but rather, whether there is any honesty and righteousness from the presidency. We could accuse him all we want and question his leadership but he definitely didn't misled parliament alone and certainly didn't benefit from the money alone. where are the people who signed or authored for the money transfer? isn't there a person who is appointed to oversee that money is used sparingly and properly? Why then is it that the blame is entirely on Jacob Zuma
whereas there is a panel of people involved in the process? In order to get to the bottom of the whole money issue the President along with his whole cabinet should be called to answer to the allegations and not merely the President alone.
I think its high that things South Africa does things in the correct way, they are so many people who are in need of money, whereas money is being spent on upgrades that are not even necessary.
ReplyDeleteExactly and it's about time people stopped misusing their positions to benefit and do wrong things merely because they will be able to run away from answering for their actions.
Deleteits really upsetting that the person we trust just does as he pleases with our money and refuses to answer for it.
ReplyDeleteNot only that, if he truly didn't use the money then why isn't he coming forward with evidence to prove that he is indeed innocent?
DeleteFor a leader Zuma is really an EMBARRASSMENT. When people put you in such positions and place their hope in you, the least you can do is serve them with loyalty.
ReplyDeleteHonesty and transparency! Yes he is human and has the right to privacy however in terms of money the public deserves to know that indeed he is just keeping to his own
DeleteBeing a tax payer, it is really upsetting when you read about such stories. We all could do with extra money so perhaps if people worked for their money and not just deceived people because they are in high places then SA would be a better country.
ReplyDeleteThat is true and maybe if instead of focusing so much on security that he doesn't need he'd focus on running the country then more issues would be dealt with.
DeleteIt seems as though Zuma's main priority is giving his family a great life at the expense of fellow South Africans. Shouldn't we just keep our money the if Zuma and his family are the ones who'll keep benefiting from it?
ReplyDeleteTrue because there have infact then Presidents before Zuma but NEVER have they used the states money to increase security at their homes . What exactly is he protecting himself from?
ReplyDeleteEven though Zuma is the president, he is not immune to the laws of this country. Therefore, he must have his day in court and face the full might of the law just like any other citizen of the country that is not law abiding. It is quite appalling that our head of state repeatedly spits on the faces of the citizens of South Africa by misusing taxpayer's money and carries out his criminal activities quite publically! And seemingly, he keeps going unpunished. It's no wonder this country is flourishing in the corruption department... they are learning from the best!
